Warner Bros. Pictures had signed a new contract with IMAX to release 20 upcoming films over the next three years in the giant-sized format, one of which is “Batman 3” which is set for July 20, 2012.
The director of “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” had previously said that he was planning to finish hi Bat-trilogy with a final movie, though the time was not confirmed then.
While last movie brought in just over $1 billion worldwide, the next movie is expected to skyrocket.
Apart from “Batman 3” which is for sure going to be a must-to-see as fans wait in anticipation and excitement, the summer 2012 will kick off with “The Avengers”, which will bring together Marvel comics biggest heroes. Iron man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk will team up in a massive movie opening the first weekend of May.
“Spider man”, which will be in 3-D, will also be back on the big screen which will feature Peter Parker back in high school.
“Star Trek” will also be shown as the leading character prepares for a new mission.
Great movies as they are, it will still be about two years time before they are going to be shown.
However, next year itself will also showcase giant movies like the prequel “X-Men: First Class” which will bring Marvel’s mutant back to theatres. Thor and Captain America will be shown as solo movies before joining “The Avengers.”
Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”.
Animated movies “Cars” and “Kung Fu Panda” will be getting second movies.
The last half of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will mark the boy’s final big-screen adventure.
