American singer and top 12 finalist of American Idol Season 9, Crystal Bowersox announced that her boyfriend ditched her so he can live a “simple, quiet life” away from Hollywood.

Her Ohio-native boyfriend, Tony Kusia ended their 11-month affair which left Bowersox in a state of shock. Bowersox, 24 admitted in an interview that she was really shocked by his sudden decision. “I woke up Tuesday morning and he just had an epiphany. He wanted a simple, quiet life and I respect that. I’m glad he told me instead of sticking it out and realizing it later that he would be unhappy. “We always had a real open and honest relationship with each other. I’ve had to deal with a lot worse in my life. It was bad timing, definitely.

But I feel like I’ve never been stronger in my life. It was nothing that I couldn’t handle. I just channeled all of that emotion into my performances.” Reports say that Bowersox is a “free spirit” when it comes to her sexuality and has a secret gay past.

An insider admits, “Crystal was a free spirit.

The singer has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records for what E! Online is describing as “her bluesy folk rocking debut album” to be released later this year. The actress said, “I’m really grateful to be given this opportunity to make an album and let people hear my music and I’m looking forward to working with all of the folks at 19/Jive.
